Mythic Spells have the same use as regular Spells, but are classified as the more powerful set of spells and can turn the tide of a battle. In current patch in enhanced edition loot is dropped on enemies first death even if you cast repurpose on them. You can then use ability that allows you to kill those enemies as many times as you want. Its all patched. Also it wont work on NPCs that you can talk to after you kill them, or it will work after you kill them permanently.

When you use repurpose, an ability now comes up that allows you to cancel it. However, if you repurpose 2 or more creatures and use cancel repurpose, it then disappears so you cannot use it again until the next time you cast repurpose. Beware having 6+ creatures following at once if you want their loot as you’ll need to manually use other methods to kill them.
