Initial Mythic Features

Gold Dragon is a Mythic Path in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. The mighty magic and form of a Gold Dragon gives you the power to smite your enemies, but remember: killing is not the only option. Those who faltered could be redeemed, those who are lost, should be guided. Your way is the way of mercy. Your path leads to eternity.

"The Gold Dragon is a mighty, almost omnipotent creature that possesses powers beyond all others. The Gold Dragon is the embodiment of goodness, hope, and redemption."

Gold Dragon Information

  • The Gold Dragon is a late-game mythic path that can be chosen in Act 5. It is themed around redemption and forgiveness. It grants powerful bonuses to your attribute scores, spell damage dice, several immunities, and can allow you to permanently transform into a Gold Dragon.

  • At Mythic 9, you are given the option to change your character portrait to that of a Gold Dragon with its claws crossed.

Unlocking the Gold Dragon Mythic Path

Unlocking the Gold Dragon mythic path is a multi-step process that begins as early as the prologue and ends in Act 5. It is possible to miss this mythic path if you do not fulfill all the requirements.

Gold Dragon Features

  • Gold Dragon Breath: You gain the ability to breathe holy energy, attacking all enemies in a 50 feet cone, dealing (character level plus half mythic rank)d8 holy damage. A successful Reflex saving throw (DC=10 + your character level + half your mythic rank) halves the damage. Any enemy hit by the breath attack also gains a -1 penalty on all d20 rolls, while all enemies who failed the Reflex saving throw gain -2 penalty. You can use your breath attack once every 1d4 rounds.

  • The Gold Dragon gains immunity to poison, diseases, fear, confusion, paralysis and sleep. Hit Dice are increased to d12 if they were not already. Saving Throws and Ability Scores are increased to a minimum value, which increases with Mythic level. At Mythic 9, skills are similarly increased. Spell damage dice are increased to d6, d8, and d10 at Mythic 8, 9, and 10 respectively; if spells already dealt that die size of damage, they instead deal extra damage based on the number of dice. At Mythic 10, all damage dealt is Holy (cannot be mitigated).

  • Gold Dragon Form: At Mythic 9, you can assume the form of a Gold Dragon. You gain the following abilities: a +10 size bonus to Strength, a +8 size bonus to Constitution, a +8 form natural armor bonus. Blindsense 60 feet. You also gain one bite (2d8), 2 claws (2d6), two wing attacks (1d8), and 1 tail slap attack (2d6).

 Path-specific Notes

Azata: The player loses their dragon companion and the ability to visit their court. Aivu will begin to shrink from her former size and share that the Free Crusaders will have to disband, that the island can no longer be used to create miracles, and that it can't fly anymore. She will give a heartfelt goodbyes, claiming that she and the commander will see each other again someday.

does having the dragon lineage as a sorcerer affect the golden dragon?
I mean, it's almost the same, only it increases my resistance and I can transform into a dragon, only this can be used more times

at mythic level 10, your damage becomes all holy damage and vital strike breaks, doing only a single regular-damage attack. just be aware when entering the final boss fight. i listed this bug on the vital strike ability page too. it works for companions still. i quit to desktop and reloaded two different saves to see if maybe it was a saving or loading error, but both had the same problem. i didn't notice it on the first save, but the second time around, i caught it.

don't know if it's a typo in the code, over correction in the balancing, or simply intended, but the dragon units you start with right after taking the mythic path have low damage stats. the damage was about the same for the brass, bronze, and copper dragons. looking at the copper ones, they have 25 str and 20 dex. the modifiers for the bite is +2, claw is -1, wing is -5, and tail is -5. wing is 1d4 -5, so 1, and tail is 1d6-5 or just 1. they're kind of useless. in total over 6 attacks in a single turn they do 8-17 damage per round each.

Does the ability scores being brought up to 18 count things like the potion or the books, or does it only count scores made at character creation?

warning! do not visit the dragon burial ground before completing the dragon's asinine fetch quests. they will send you there after they're done wasting your time, fetch questing. if you've already cleared it, reload an old save or beat the game at mythic level 8.

A warning for any Kineticists out there looking at this path; As of right now (02/10/21), you *cannot* gather power while in Dragon Form, making almost every blast require you to burn, and you also don't get the D6->D8/D10 upgrades on Kinetic Blasts.
