Sosiel is a Companion in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Companions assist the player by joining his/her party and have their own backstories and unique characteristics. They all have their own Classes and equipment they begin with.

What is this soft, kind man doing in a war? It is easier to image him harvesting ripe grapes than killing enemies. But he came here, and his hands are scarlet not with berry juice, but with the blood of slain enemies and fallen friends. This servant of the goddess of beauty gives all of himself to his comrades, trying to protect as many lives as he can. But who will protect him?

Gameplay

Sosiel beings in a mostly support-focused build, with his choice in domains allowing him to be a great buffer. Bit of Luck can be very valuable on certain important rolls, or simply used to get a higher chance of hitting an attack. His Toughness starting feat, medium armor, and decent Constitution mean he can serve as a decent tank as well, using Channel Energy and other spells to support the party while he takes the brunt of the damage from enemies. Using Impossible Domain to gain a mountable animal companion from the Animal Domain can be immensely helpful, giving Sosiel far greater attack power and mobility. With his very high overall stats, one can build him more caster/summon focused or more martial and still have a good end result

Personality

Sosiel is a pious and compassionate man. He constantly strives to embody the true teachings of Shelyn: finding beauty in all good things, offering mercy to the redeemable, and trying to avoid conflict where possible. He enjoys playing cards, painting people's portraits, and polite conversation. He is one of the few party members to genuinely believe that Arueshalae is entirely sincere and that her redemption is possible. He looks forward to the end of the war, when there will be peace and he can safely retire with his family. However, he does have a serious temper that can be revealed in dire situations. Sosiel attempts to temper his anger with the teachings of Shelyn, and the Commander can potentially encourage or help curb this violent behavior.

His feelings towards his brother Trever are complicated and change throughout his personal missions. He initially joined the crusade due to being inspired by his loving brother, who he believed was still a paladin who was missing in action. Once he found out that Trever instead become a cruel Hellknight during his time in the Worldwound, his resolve is deeply shaken and he begins to become angry more frequently. If the Commander helps Sosiel have a clear head and see that Trever was a victim of the war, then he will forgive Trever when they reunite in Alushinyrra and the two will reconcile, retiring together after the war.

Romance: When camping out in the Worldwound, a Commander can potentially wake up to discover Sosiel painting their portrait. Encourage Sosiel to continue painting and say you like it. Once back at Drezen, speak to Sosiel to begin the romance. Sosiel is only available to male characters.

Sosiel Tips and Notes

  • Other notes, tips, and trivia

Saving Sosiel's Brother

In order to save Trever during Act IV, he must be a "victim" in Sosiel's mind. This happens by successfully saying the correct things to him throughout acts II and III. Even with the dialogue choices, Sosiel must have the shield dropped during Lost Chapel (the Immaculate Petal). Stuff it into his alternate set to make sure it is not accidentally stashed.

  • "You don't know what your brother has endured in this war. Perhaps the person you once knew is gone."
  • When asked to elaborate on what Irabeth told him, use: "The battlefield changes people. Your brother isn't the first to be hardened by war." (This dialogue can bug out when you ask Sosiel to expand on what Irabeth said about what happened when his brother left, making it impossible to obtain without using Toybox (Sosiel_VictimCounter should be 3 before the confrontation).)
  • "Your brother hoped to keep his heart pure, but he couldn't. Alas, this happens to many people in war."

In Act IV, talk to the masked demon in the Fleshmarkets and ask about Trever's location. Do this before doing the Battlebliss arena quest chain. Once the Battlebliss quest chain is over, talk to the new manager and ask to see Trever. Arrange the fight. When going against Trever, raise the shield and do not fight him. When given the option to speak:

  • "Trever... What have they done to you? No, that's not what matters. You're safe now. It's over. I've come for you. Let's go home."

    • Sosiel's starting build is so weird. Most of the other companions are at least decent, but this poor guy was done dirty. The channeling feats are okay. Not great, but okay. Toughness is an awful inclusion for someone that really doesn't want to be in the frontline, and his armor focus (medium) would have been so much better served as armor proficiency (heavy) instead. His stats are begging for heavy armor, not medium.
